Scala articles and news roundup: year 2009 – week 20

This week I have started collecting some articles about Scala programming language. There is a lot of movement in the community: interviews, experiments, new libraries… I follow many channels and have also started to follow @bubbl_scala that everyday fires out five to seven links. I have collected the most interesting I have found this week in this post. I am searching for a better way to share this knowledge: something that allows categorisation like a social bookmaking site but that also keeps the “recent matter” nature of a twitter like system. Maybe a twine or something else…

Let’s start with something abstract: a couple of articles related do design of and in Scala. I also link an interesting thread about OOP on the Scala mailing list:

Let’s go practical now: Scalaz is a libraries that adds a lot of features to the core Scala libraries: here is the status of the upcoming version 4 that will include the interesting slinky2, a Scala library a la Sinatra/Jersey. The second is an article about LiftWeb, the Scala web framework.

Interesting chit chat corner: a couple of post about refactoring, the first comparing with refactoring in Ruby. As a bonus, a generic comparison with Haskell

Now, let’s go with some experiments, snippets and howto: we have scala with flex, a scala lexer, scala and REST, scala and OSGI and maven, dependency injection…

As a final bonus you can download the PDF version of the article: Scala and Lift — Functional Recipes for the Web by Debasish Ghosh and Steve Vinoski

Ah, and this is the first post of this blog I opened a couple of months ago. I started with this kind of article for no reason at all. Greetings to everyone!
